This is the announcement of the resurrection of Jesus by the Greek Orthodox Church. Some minutes before the Holy Light from the Grave of Jesus is distributed to people. Then the tradition asks for the Jude to be burnt in fire. A couple of days before people collect wood to make the fire and they also make a figure and put it on top of the woods. When the priest says the announcement of the resurrection of Jesus, they start the fire. There are also fireworks and false guns that are used to make lots of noise. The first one is from Heraklion this year (2008 ) and the next two are since 2007 in Agios Nikolaos and in Kalesa, a small village.
