Stelios Kalogerakis is the creator of the Cretan cartoon called Sifis. He is living in Rethimno and is a graphics artist. You can see more of his work at his site.

Sifis has been hosted at local newspapers and magazines. The first book with Sifis adventures has been recently published.

As you can understand seeing the cover page, Sifis is a traditional Cretan man born and brought up in some Cretan village, his creator locates his birth place at Psiloritis, but at the same time he is keen with technology, uses his laptop but also the Internet. He has his own site at www.sifis.info, he is an active member of facebook, and his group. Last but not least, he has his blog called «Sifis mantinadologio» where he writes his mantinades. [ I copy from WIKI: A mantinada, (plural mantinades, Greek μαντινάδα, μαντινάδες) — are Cretan rhyming couplets, typically improvised during dance music. Rhymed Cretan poetry of the Renaissance, especially verse epic Erotokritos, are reminiscent of the mantinada, and couplets from Erotokritos have become used as mantinades. Mantinades have either love or satire as their topics. The word is derived from Venetian matinada, a morning song. ]

Arolithos is a private own village 10 Km from Heraklion on the way towards Anogia. Actually it is an open air Museum of a traditional Cretan village that has a Hotel, a restaurant and a museum of Agricultural History and Popular Art. You will find all the relevant details about it at the site of the village.

In the following two videos you can see kids visiting the Museum and having the experience of a wedding as it was done in the past in Crete. Actually there are more than this educational activity for schools who can book and visit the museum and have a taste of traditions, on how the home was furnished and equipped, professions of the past, traditional outfit, seasonal traditions, or even how bread was (rather is) done at home.
