Εκδηλώσεις «Ηράκλειο – Καλοκαίρι 2011» – Summer Festival Heraklion 2011

Το Σάββατο 2 Ιουλίου στις 21:30 στο Κηποθέατρο Νίκος Καζαντζάκης με FLAMENCO ξεκινούν οι Εκδηλώσεις «Ηράκλειο – Καλοκαίρι 2011».

Το πρόγραμμα των εκδηλώσεων «Ηράκλειο Καλοκαίρι 2011″ θα ολοκληρωθεί στις 20 Σεπτεμβρίου ενώ στο τρίτο δεκαήμερο του Σεπτεμβρίου θα πραγματοποιηθεί το πρώτο Μεσογειακό φεστιβάλ Τεχνών. Επίσης, διοργανώνονται και περιφερειακές εκδηλώσεις σε διάφορες Τοπικές Κοινότητες του νέου διευρυμένου Δήμου Ηρακλείου. Παράλληλα, στη χαμηλή πλατεία του Προμαχώνα «Βηθλεέμ» θα λειτουργήσει ο Θερινός Δημοτικός
Κινηματογράφος.

Next Saturday, July 2nd 2011, the Summer Festival Heraklion 2011 starts with the opening event beeing a flamengo dance performance.
It will last till 20th of Semptember. The events are spread around the city.

Μάταλα, οι χίπις επιστρέφουν! – Matala, hippies reunion!

Ξεκίνησε σήμερα, 10 Ιουνίου 2011, το 3ήμερο Φεστιβάλ στα Μάταλα, με την συνάντηση των Χίππις. Αντιγράφω από την επίσημη ιστοσελίδα του Φεστιβάλ www.visitmatala.com (όπου φυσικά υπάρχουν όλες οι λεπτομέριες για το Φεστιβάλ) :

… η όλη προσπάθεια ξεκίνησε από τον δημοσιογράφο, κ. Στροχμάγιερ, όταν πραγματοποίησε μια αναζήτηση των Χίπις με τους οποίους είχε ζήσει και ο ίδιος στα Μάταλα τη δεκαετία του ʽ60. Η αναζήτηση του έδωσε πλούσιο φωτογραφικό υλικό και 12 μοναδικές προσωπικές ιστορίες πρώην Χίπις, οι οποίες τυπώνονται σʼ ένα λεύκωμα και θα παρουσιαστούν για πρώτη φορά από τους ίδιους στα Μάταλα τον Ιούνιο.

Το όνομα των Χίπις παράλληλα θέλει να αποκαταστήσει ο κ. Στροχμάγιερ, μιλώντας για τη δεκαετία του ʼ60 στα Μάταλα.

«Πολλοί έλεγαν τους Χίπις φρικιά και πίστευαν πως δεν έχουν να προσφέρουν τίποτα στη ζωή» τονίζει ο κ. Στροχμάγιερ και διευκρινίζει:

«Οι Χίπις όμως του τότε, ήταν άνθρωποι με αναζητήσεις, άνθρωποι που ήθελαν να γνωρίσουν τον κόσμο. Κι είχαν ως απόλυτη προτεραιότητα τα Μάταλα. Ήταν σαν ιερό χρέος της νεολαίας να βρεθείς εκεί. Οι άνθρωποι αυτοί όμως, μετά τα Μάταλα συνέχισαν τις σπουδές τους και οι περισσότεροι είναι διακεκριμένοι επιστήμονες ή ακόμα και καθηγητές. Η εικόνα τους διαφέρει απʼ αυτή που πολύς κόσμος είχε ή έχει».

Matala is a village located 75 km south-west of Heraklion (or Iralkio), Crete.

The artificial caves in the cliff of the Matala bay were created in the Neolithic Age. Matala was the port of Phaistos during the Minoan period. In the year 220 BC. Matala was occupied by the Gortynians and during the Roman period Matala became the port of Gortys. In the 1st and 2nd centuries the caves were used as tombs. One of the caves is called «Brutospeliana» because according to the legend it was frequented by the Roman general Brutus.

Matala was then a fishing village. In the 1960s the caves were occupied by hippies who were later driven out. Now Matala is a small village living mainly from tourism.

Today, June 11th 2011, the reunion Party of the Ex-Hippies, who were staying in the caves in the sixties and seventies, started at Matala.

«»Matala Open Air» is a 3 day music festival with live music, beach parties, right in front of the famous caves with music from sixties / seventies – the sound & music of the legendary woodstock festival … an attractive program with lots of (live-) music and party feeling all kind of activities like Hippie bazar, and Hippie events accoustic live music, concerts, happenings, exhibitions, children fun parc … and more!

The first year’s event brings to Matala artists from different countries, presenting a full schedule of events. The Open Air Festival program starts with the presentation of the book “Mythos Matala / The Myth of Matala” by the German journalist Mr. Arn Strohmeyer, art forms of the 60s and 70s and local events to unite the past with the present and bring messages of peace to the whole world.
