The palm tree forest of Preveli hosted people who enjoyed the bright cold waters of Kourtaliotis river. This is over, we lost it and now pictures like the following will be only in our photos.
This picture was taken in August 8th 2010, two weeks ago during the walk oranised by Naturalist Club of Heraklio. This is the relevant page of this Club, where you can watch their pictures and video that they took 2 weeks ago.
Here below you can watch a video as broadcasted during the afternoon news buletin of the local TV channel «ΚΡΗΤΗ ΤV» and see how this gorgeous place looks after the fire. The fact is that the winds were too strong for any plane to drop water. They say the winds reached 12Bf at the area and into the gorge they were even stronger, so strong that they dropped huge rocks!
